Using Hermes

Billing

Upgrade, downgrade or cancel your plan, and see what happens to your agent when a plan ends.

Billing is where you move between Mini and Pro, cancel, or start a new plan. This page also covers what happens to your agent and its data when a plan ends, and what to expect if a renewal payment fails.

Opening Billing

Choose "Plan & billing" in the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, or open SettingsBilling (open it directly).

Billing is there on every plan, including the free tier, in simple and builder mode, and while a new agent is still being set up.

With no plan

Billing says "No active plan" and "Pick a plan to manage billing and upgrades.", with a "Pick a plan" button. It opens the plans page, where "claim mini →" or "claim pro →" takes you to checkout. The Quickstart walks through checkout step by step.

Your plan card

With a plan, Billing shows "Plan" and a card for each plan, Mini and Pro, side by side.

  • Price, in your subscription's currency, followed by "/ mo + tax".
  • "current" tags your plan's card, and "Current plan" sits at its foot.
  • "Limits" sums up each plan: "Light personal use" and "Occasional tool runs" for Mini, "Power-user workloads" and "Intensive tool use" for Pro. The actual limits are in Plans and credits.
  • "Features" lists scheduled work, backups and connected apps.
  • "Resources" (builder mode only) shows each plan's machine: 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM for Mini, 8 vCPU and 16 GB RAM for Pro.

The other plan's card has the button to move to it.

Paying

You pay on a hosted checkout page, in the currency the plans page showed you: rupees in India, euros in the eurozone (plus Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City), and US dollars everywhere else. AI credit top-ups are always charged in US dollars.

Upgrading from Mini to Pro

  1. Press "Upgrade to Pro →" on the Pro card.
  2. A box shows what you'll be charged today for the rest of this billing period, for example "You'll be charged USD 20.00 today (prorated). Confirm?"
  3. Press "Confirm" (or "Cancel" to leave things as they are).

You see "Plan change initiated. Your agent will resize shortly." Your plan is Pro straight away. If the move to the bigger machine doesn't finish straight away, Billing shows a note that your Pro hardware is being applied and your plan is already active.

Downgrading from Pro to Mini

  1. Press "Downgrade to Mini" on the Mini card.
  2. A box asks whether to downgrade to Mini at the end of your current period, with its date. It lists what that means: nothing is charged today, you keep Pro until then, and you can undo any time before the change happens.
  3. Press "Confirm".

You see "Downgrade scheduled. You keep your current plan until period end." After that, Billing shows a note that the downgrade to Mini is scheduled for that date, with an "Undo" button.

  • Changed your mind? Press "Undo" before the date, and you stay on Pro.
  • At the end of the period your plan becomes Mini and your agent moves to the smaller machine.
  • Automatic backups turn off when you move to Mini, because they're a Pro feature. Manual backups carry on.

Cancelling

  1. Press "Cancel plan" at the bottom of Billing.
  2. You're asked "Cancel your MyHermes subscription?". Press "Yes, cancel" (or "Keep plan" to back out).

You see "Cancellation scheduled. Your plan stays active until the end of the current cycle." After the page reloads, Billing shows a note that the cancellation is scheduled for the end of your period, and that you keep your plan until then.

What happens after you cancel

Until the end of the period

You keep your agent, and everything works as before: the web chat, Telegram, and your scheduled tasks. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.

When the period ends

  1. MyHermes takes a final backup of your agent.
  2. Then it removes your agent and its machine.
  3. Your account goes back to the free tier, with free chat in the browser.

That final backup is kept for 30 days, but the dashboard can't put it back. If you subscribe again after your agent is removed, the new agent starts without the old one's memory and files. If the backup can't be taken, your agent is still removed, after a 7-day grace period, without it. The Privacy Policy describes the same steps.

After it's removed

  • Telegram: your bot replies that your subscription has ended, and your messages don't reach an agent any more.
  • The web chat becomes free chat. The "Recents" list goes, because free chat doesn't have one.
  • Scheduled tasks no longer run.

Resubscribing

If your plan is marked cancelled while you still have paid time left, Billing shows your plan with "Cancelled, access until" and the date, plus a "Resubscribe" button, and the account row at the bottom of the sidebar adds "ends" and the date.

"Resubscribe", or the plans page, starts a new subscription with a fresh checkout. It doesn't bring back the cancelled one.

What you get depends on timing:

  • If your agent hasn't been removed yet (for example while a failed payment is being sorted out), the new subscription takes over that same agent, with everything on it.
  • If it has been removed, you get a new agent. Your Telegram bot, its allowed ids and your model settings carry over. The old agent's memory and files don't.

If a renewal payment fails

Billing shows that the payment failed and asks you to update your payment method, with a "See plans" button.

  • For 7 days after the failed payment, your agent keeps working, and you can keep chatting.
  • If it's still unpaid after that, your plan is ended, and the agent is removed once 7 days have passed since the end of your paid period. Unlike a cancellation, no final backup is taken first.

If you need help with a payment, tell us through "Get help" in the account menu (open it).

Plans that can't be changed here

A few subscriptions don't support changes from the dashboard. Their card has no buttons, and a line says self-service isn't available for that subscription and asks you to contact support. Use "Get help" in the account menu.

Receipts and invoices

The dashboard doesn't have a list of invoices or receipts. Payment receipts are emailed to you by the payment provider, not by MyHermes.

Common questions

Can I undo a cancellation?

No. Once you've confirmed it, your plan ends at the end of the period and your agent is removed. Subscribing again later gives you a new agent without the old one's memory and files.

Does my agent stop working as soon as I cancel?

No. You keep it, and can chat with it, until the end of the period you've paid for.

What happens to my data?

At the end of the period, MyHermes backs up your agent and then removes it. The backup is kept for 30 days, but the dashboard can't put it back. If you subscribe again after your agent is removed, the new agent starts without the old one's memory and files.

Am I charged when I downgrade?

No. Nothing is charged when you schedule it, and the change happens at the end of your billing period.
